So, it's official. I'm walking 60 miles over the course of 3 days and sleeping in a two man tent in the middle of Atlanta, GA.

Crazy? Maybe.

It's for a cause that is very personal and close to my heart - the fight against cancer.

Let me be blunt. This disease is devastating and the loss is incredibly heartwrenching…my grandmother, my first business partner, my son's best-friend's mom (who was also my friend and holds a special place in my heart), my cousin, my sister-in-law, my kid's great aunt, my very good friend (still fighting), my best friend's mom (a survivor)…and that's just a drop in the bucket, there are more people near and dear to my heart. I know this isn't personal to just me. It's everyone. I haven't met a person who hasn't been touched in some way by this disease. I feel like I should post their names on a wall like the Vietnam War Memorial.

202305_56071037551862.gifSo, I am walking for them, to honor them, to show my love and appreciation of them for gracing my life and in my own way make a statement that there's no reason why we shouldn't find a cure.

My group is called the Blister Sisters and every dime raised goes to the Susan G. Komen Foudation. There are 22 of us. My share in the funding department totals $2200 - that's the amount I've agreed to raise. You can help. Go here, make a donation. Doesn't matter how much you give because every bit counts. You can make a donation on behalf of someone you love or just because it's the right thing to do - either way, as Nike says, "just do it."

It's tax deductible and if you are business and make a donation over $100 your name will be plastered on the backs of 22 women (me included) as they trek across the city streets of Atlanta, GA for three days.

Here's the donation link. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like to join us in Atlanta. I'm happy to pass on the info and meet up. I appreciate you - your support and encouragement!

Or, better yet, do you really KNOW your customers? Do you know what they'd like to talk about, how they feel and what they want from you as a company? What messages are you sending out? Is it about YOU or about THEM?

A new ecommerce formula has arrived. Take online shopping and mix it up with social networking and you get social shopping.

Social shopping is the answer to a chronic problem for online retailers and shoppers: many shoppers aren’t sure what to buy, but they know they won’t find it on the sites of mainstream retailers like Amazon, Nordstrom's or Wal-Mart.

These independent minded shoppers tend to be aged 18-34 and are very into sharing what they've found as well as looking for unusual products. Now, this is just my personal take on the demographic so it's not qualified by any deep research into who uses social shopping. However, I'm willing to bet I'm at least in the ballpark on this one.Cool

Social shopping sites are viral by nature. Individuals can participate in groups, recommend and share products, talk about what is fabulous or not so fabulous and add their favorite products to their blogs among other things. It's a powerful combination. These sites strive to make it as easy as possible to participate and users tend to be fanatical about sharing what they find.

The Result? Social shopping sites are exceedingly beneficial to ecommerce retailers.

What you can expect:

  1. Increased product exposure
  2. Increased sales
  3. Increased brand awareness
  4. And, of course, increased traffic to your site

Not a bad deal.

To browse at your leisure, of course, here's a list for you to check out.
