So, it's official. I'm walking 60 miles over the course of 3 days and sleeping in a two man tent in the middle of Atlanta, GA.
Crazy? Maybe.
It's for a cause that is very personal and close to my heart - the fight against cancer.
Let me be blunt. This disease is devastating and the loss is incredibly heartwrenching…my grandmother, my first business partner, my son's best-friend's mom (who was also my friend and holds a special place in my heart), my cousin, my sister-in-law, my kid's great aunt, my very good friend (still fighting), my best friend's mom (a survivor)…and that's just a drop in the bucket, there are more people near and dear to my heart. I know this isn't personal to just me. It's everyone. I haven't met a person who hasn't been touched in some way by this disease. I feel like I should post their names on a wall like the Vietnam War Memorial.
So, I am walking for them, to honor them, to show my love and appreciation of them for gracing my life and in my own way make a statement that there's no reason why we shouldn't find a cure.
My group is called the Blister Sisters and every dime raised goes to the Susan G. Komen Foudation. There are 22 of us. My share in the funding department totals $2200 - that's the amount I've agreed to raise. You can help. Go here, make a donation. Doesn't matter how much you give because every bit counts.
