Tip #1 - Use Local Search!
You WANT to be found when people search online for local businesses and the BEST way is to use local search. The local search directories at Google Places, Yahoo Local and Bing Local want you to claim and build very information rich local profiles.
If you haven’t done it yet go here right now:
One super secret tip for your Google Places profile – when you create your profile you can add up to five categories of business. The first must match a suggested one on Google’s list, BUT you get to add four more. So, instead of using, for example, “building contractor” use “your city name building contractor” and do that three more times for other rich search terms with your city name and watch what happens to your listing in Google Local.

Ten (yes, count 'em, 10!) ideas to remember when crafting your business/marketing mix
